Frequently Asked Questions
What equipment will my child need?
Your child will need basketball/athletic shorts and shirts in either Red, Black, White, or Grey. No bright or loud colors will be allowed, and NO BLUE will be allowed. Players will also need a good pair of Basketball shoes (Red, Black or White). Please avoid playing in running shoes as they do not provide enough ankle support. Players MUST HAVE Knee Pads! (Red, Black, or White)
Can 6th and 7th graders play?
Students in 6th & 7th are allowed to play, however, they will be evaluated and advised based on their abilities. For example, if we feel that a 6th or 7th graders could use more development, we will advise them to compete in the Feeder League. This opportunity will allow them more opportunities to develop to better prepare them for their 8th grade year.
Some 6th and 7th graders, with exceptional abilities, may make the 8th grade team.
NEW THIS YEAR - We will have an A and B team. The B team will be made up of 6th and 7th graders. They will play a smaller version of the A team schedule. Some players may play on both the A team and B team.
How much time will my child get to play?
Playing time is not guaranteed. Playing time will be based on effort and ability. It will be our goal to provide each player some time on the court but we cannot promise any playing time. Players will have a chance to improve and compete in practice to earn more game repetitions.
What position(s) will my child play?
Players will be evaluated daily in practice and will be placed in the role which they can best help the team.
What happens if my child misses practice?
Preparations are vital to our success and therefore all players are expected to attend ALL practices. If a situation arises that causes a player to miss, it is expected that the player communicates with a coach prior to missing practice. Parents are welcomed to communicate as well, but while trying to teach players to be accountable, we would like to hear from them. Missing practice or failure to communicate will affect playing time.
